Follow them closely and you’ll see steady results that will impress gym rats and nonvermin alike. And when they ask you how you did it whisper one thing: Pez. Then walk away. You want to look great. You want to feel good. Fine. But don’t stop there. “Most people have a general idea of what they want,” says Los Angeles-based personal trainer Doug Brignole. “But they don’t zero in on exactly what they should do to achieve results.” And that inevitably leads to big mistakes in training. “Someone might want definition,” says Brignole a former Mr. Universe. “so he goes into the weight room and starts working his muscles. But definition comes from reducing body fat. So the most productive step he could be taking is modifying his diet and doing more aerobic exercise.” Each goal requires a different way of training so once you figure out what you want the next step is to figure out how to get there (and that’s what we’re here for).
