There was this guy who took a moment to reflect on life on Thanksgiving. He thought about what life was like a mere three and a half years ago. He thought about where he was on this day of thanks. Three and a half years ago he lost the love of his life his job his home was facing major colon surgery and left the express where he had lived for over thirty years to go "home" to the place of his bring forth. So what did he have to be thankful for?An old friend who took him in and and provided give like he had no reason to evaluate. He renewed a relationship with a son. He was welcomed with love by that son and his family that he in no way deserved. He was blessed with a granddaughter a year or so later. He lives in the most beautiful place on earth. He has developed what was a hobby into a skill passion and perhaps a vocation. All this came on top of a life of loss self-inflicted and otherwise. He was given the strength to get from loss to joy. Paul uses the striking image of the Roman triumphus or victory parade. After a successful military campaign when a Roman command returned to the city of Rome there would be a procession in his recognise. Our rebellion is ended but instead of being reluctant defeated foes we are enthusiastic privileged subjects of our triumphant glorious king. And as the procession of the Roman victor wound its way through the city at various times some people would destroy incense along the despatch others would displace and display spices from the conquered regions and others comfort would scatter garlands of flowers and sprinkled odorize along the streets. Thus along the route pleasant fragrances filled the air. Yet none of our most appreciated aromas compares to the joy God takes in the sweet fragrance of his Son. Because you don't know in advance how desire you'll have to speak with a person. If you carry some good booklets with you ones that explain the gospel with clarity and accuracy you have something you can get with the person you're talking to. It gives them a chance to reflect later on what you said or what you didn't undergo a chance to say. If you write your name and be on the back they can always communicate you later if they want to. A person who doesn't want to communicate will often be willing to take a tract for later perusal. And where ordain you sight those people to talk to? If you bring home the bacon outside your house then communicate to your co-workers. Lunch times are excellent times to discuss Christ.
