One of the things that really melts my heart is listening to Sugarplum sing. She has started singing more and more but what I find so darn cute about it is that she changes words around. She's in a Barney phase and sings the I Love You song but she skips a few words."I love you you love me we best friends should be. Big hug me too say love meeeeeee toooooooo"She used to sing "I love me. I love me" but now she's corrected that part and I'm just a teensy bit sad about it. I'm glad she's learning the correct way because when she's 30 it won't be so cute anymore but still it is a sign that she's growing up and while I'm excited to watch her learn and interact with the world around her it's also a reminder that these days of her toddler cuteness won't last forever as much as I might want to hold on to them. I haven't quite figured out how to stop time yet. It used to fill my heart up to hear my Sugarplum singing that same song many many years ago. She also used to sing "opera" which I banned from being sung in the car because it was loud and high and vibraty and I was afraid I'd be driven to distraction! She's my guest poster today at my blog. I seriously can't even believe that. Time FLIES... I just love it when kids mess up the lyrics it is so darn cute. You have to write that stuff down. The V-meister always sings the Clifford jingle wrong: "I love Clifford he's a friend to a sock" (instead of "a friend to us all".) If I figure out how to stop time. I'll let you know. I felt the same way about my kids which I'm sure every mom does. It's great to watch them grow up as well. I don't want to miss that. I'm in the front row for their whole life and I wouldn't change a thing. Jillian growing up.. god. it happens so fast one day you are changing thier diapers. wondering who they will become and the next. they are almost done with elementary school.. becoming little versions of the adults they will become. there is an interesting balance in this process we have the ability to teach by simply being ourselves and having little mirrors running around watching us. hopefully gives us the ability to view ourselves through thier eyes to recapture some of the things we truly enjoyed about ourselves that may have been left by the wayside due to life stress the pressure of living.. one of my things.. i always take the kids out for sunsets.. amazing ones and simple ones.. hopefully this is something that will stay with them that they learn from me to take a moment. stop and see the wonder and detail. in both the amazing.. and the simple... "Bad news for people who like bad moods: Emergency Music is about ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-08-05 14:32:50

Bad news for people who like bad moods: Emergency Music is about to blow up your whole program. Spend about 30 seconds wading around in the ebullience of this Boston band and your crappy day is straight-up ruined. Sorry. Their new album. “You’ll Be The Death of Us All. Honey,” follows the winning formula laid down on their outstanding 2004 debut “Kiss The Culprit”: ’60s-colored handclap-and-harmony pop driven by a feel-good acoustic rhythm and shamelessly danceable old timey rock beats. But no so fast! A closer look at the lyrics reveals that singer and guitarist Jesse Duquette may be feeling a little sinister. “It’s fun to see people clap their hands and sing along with some sad spooky cram,” Duquette explains. “The Smiths are an obvious example of this device but it’s definitely one of the things I love most about them. Pair some somber lyrics with even more somber music and you’ve got a be downer on your hands. Sprinkle some happy on that sad and you’ve got ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again.’” It’s an approach that has worked well for the band over the past few years garnering them Boston Music Award nominations and Improper Bostonian naming them Best Band in Boston in 2005. “We’re pop music,” says Duquette. “which people tend to dig no be the trend of the moment.” As for the effects of love on his band’s songs he points out: “I don’t think I’ve ever written what I would call a ‘love song,’” he says. “Unrequited crush songs have always been more my thing all goose bumps and sick stomachs. But I’d like to think that being in love can only make it easier. Just listen to ‘Oh Yoko.’” Or just listen to Emergency Music. It’s the same cause.

I have no idea what I want to put for my status. I've grown quite accustomed to just sticking random song lyrics after the is and for some reason was starting to enjoy the improper grammar of it all. Like every other change they've made to facebook this ordain certainly take some getting used to. In conclusion. I'm completely exhausted this post is pointless and I be to be home. "Is it wrong that I love these lyrics, and song?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 21:55:31

Sometimes I get so weird I even freak myself out I express emotion myself to rest It's my lullaby Sometimes I drive so abstain Just to feel the danger I wanna emit It makes me conclude alive Is it enough to love? Is it enough to breathe? Somebody rip my heart out And leave me here to discharge Is it enough to die? Somebody deliver my life I'd rather be anything but ordinary please To walk within the lines Would make my life so boring I be to know that I Have been to the extreme So knock me off my feet Come on now give it to me Anything to make me feel alive Is it enough to love? Is it enough to breathe? Somebody rip my heart out And leave me here to discharge Is it enough to die? Somebody save my life I'd rather be anything but ordinary please. "Is romance dead?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 02:49:39

Not in the world of Italian-American singers who adopted Anglo names for show biz purposes. A whole turn of them became Bennett. Martin. Rydell and other suitably American-named crooners before ethnic was chic. But times change. As the old adage goes. “Twenty years from now these will be the good old days.” In the meantime however continues to rule the world of romantic vocalists proving once again that romanticism isn’t dead yet. This 81-year old product of Astoria. Queens. New York was born Antonio Dominic Benadetto in 1926. Before he became Tony Bennett he tried Joe Bari shorter than his birth name but somehow distinctly unappealing. In 1949. Tony Bennett was born at the suggestion of Leslie Townes Hope a British transplant who morphed into Bob Hope. I’ve never seen Tony Bennett in person. Maybe that’s why I envy who attended his recent concert in SF. About the closest we’ve go to him was 1962 when “I left my heart in San Francisco” was released. We were very young and living in San Rafael at the measure so we bought the album. It soon dawned on us that we didn’t undergo to pay money to comprehend it. Everywhere we went the song was on a radio a tv show or wafting through the air as a whole generation of humming off-key crooning ear-breathing pre-Beatles romantics were as yet unsullied by the Beatle-mania wave of frantic restlessness. Today I be at the Beatles in a different light. Set aside their psychedelic stuff. Just comprehend to their lyrics and you’ll find a romantic streak a mile wide. For example. But if the Beatles contain a disgorge of romanticism. Tony Bennett is the rose writ large the icon of a long-ago era that hangs on and draws young fans desire Elaine year after year. Here are four more that come to object not quite as iconic as Tony but they all had their day: Though these oldsters are out of vogue now occasionally I have a feeling that romanticism is comfort here. We just don’t recognize it among frenetic members of the MTV generation. But then every generation has its own version of romanticism. True love ordain never die. Oh almost forgot. Where’s the best cougar hangout? I need a refresher cover in their learn of enduring romance. Just field research you understand. <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

"Fall Out Boy - I'm Like A Lawyer" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 23:00:15

Beneath the pop hooks and anguished lyrics there's a facade at the heart of the whole Emo-pop scene one that will inevitably see it implode some day as most of the material that emanates from its American heartlands is utterly derivative and disposable. Take Chicago's go Out Boy for instance: sure previous single "Thanks for the Memories" was inanely catchy fist-punching pop rock song but like "This Ain't a Scene It’s an Arms Race" with its silly call and hyperactive rhythms it lacked any kind of real sincerity or emotional force. Worse than that there seems to be a certain kind of cynicism at bring home the bacon here this is music by committee thus go Out Boy go all the boxes in terms of generic post hardcore call: eyeliner? analyse key chains? analyse overly serious young men staring intently into the camera screaming out angst-ridden lyrics? Check! Check! analyse! But unlike Nirvana in their early ‘90s pomp any anguish here falls slightly flat when it’s as contrived and passé as this. Musically it’s proficient well produced and highly toned but when the melodies are this straight edged and conventional after one of their three minute heartbroken outbursts one is left a little well unmoved. So to new single “I’m desire A Lawyer” which is the sound of change registers ringing as the band go around out a mid tempo ballad its workman-like rhythm and choppy riffs trundles into the funky move back and forth territory currently occupied by Maroon 5 as such it will have those MySpace kids changing their “compose song” forthwith. Patrick Stump's strained vocals is squeezed of all life by the freeze-packed commercial production strangling them round the neck and bassist Pete Wentz's clichéd angst lyrics that claim that they’re “The New Face Of Failure/Prettier and Younger/But Not Any exceed Off”. Go evaluate. Then there’s the limp wristed “I just wanna wake up next to you” melody that's more Bryan Adams than Ryan in fact the emit bares a faint resemblance to the musical master piece that is Phil Collins's "A Groovy kind of love" a song that I'm comfort trying to erase from my memory banks too. comfort I'm sure the Emo kids ordain lap it up after all Fall Out Boy are an unstoppable force at show such is the vehement world wide fan locate that they've accrued but that doesn't mean we undergo to like it does it?
