"Need a Personal Trainer?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-14 04:24:54

Two weeks ago my husband opened a personal training studio. Because his trainers needed "guinea pigs" to run through programs and get used to the equipment. I volunteered for a session. Prior to that time I had never worked with a personal trainer and let me tell you it was a great experience. I liked it so much that when Brian asked me if I would like to work out regularly with Jessica. I jumped at the chance. (Yes there are perks to being the business owner's wife!)So yesterday at 6:00 AM I met Jessica at the studio and she worked me hard. Seriously. I think about her every time I stand up climb the stairs reach over my head... If I really pay attention I can even feel my aching muscles when I'm sitting still. The aches are OK with me because they remind me I worked hard and am going to get fit. The thing I love about a personal trainer is I know I might give it a shot but I would quit when it got too hard. However when Jessica is standing by me showing me the right form counting down reps for me and saying. "You're doing a great job. Karen. Keep it up. Just three more," I press on. This morning I was thinking about how great it would be if there were such a thing as a personal trainer for moms. Wouldn't you love to have someone by your side throughout the day showing you exactly how to balance all the things you need to do for your kids reminding you to breathe deeply when the work is stressful explaining how the weight you are bearing is strengthening your character and encouraging you to press on by telling you. "You're doing a great job. Keep it up!"? I know I would!Because the truth is this mothering thing is too hard for me and sometimes I just want to quit. * I have been blessed by several other moms who are willing to call me "friend," who share their struggles with me and allow me to share mine with them. Together we encourage one another to press on and seek Hope.* Several years ago God brought a woman into my life who has been my mentor and He uses her to encourage me to help me see things clearly and to grow my faith.* And I have become increasingly aware of God's presence in every aspect of my life. More and more I realize He didn't just give my kids to me and turn His back leaving me to figure it all out on my own. I know He is with me every moment of every day growing me and shaping me as He leads me down this road called It may be true I do not have a physical body beside me serving as a Mommy personal trainer but as I reflect on what I have. I realize God has given me everything I need. How about you my friend? Are you receiving support from the people God has placed around you? From God. Himself? Or are you trying to make it on your own? I confidently believe if we are going to survive motherhood (And how I want to do so much more than just I sure wish I had a personal trainer with step by step directions on how to deal with a bigger family. I seem to have left my book at the hospitial when my children were born (each time). Since both my husband and I come from smallish family we both feel like we are constantly winging it. If it weren't for my family, friends and my prayer time. I think I would have given up a long time ago. You never seem to know when your going to be hit with a more difficult time (like now) but with a good support system and God's help we always get through it. For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not harm you plans to give you a future full of hope. Jer. 29.11 How fun to have a personal trianer... I've always thought that would be so helpful as far as keeping up with a workout routine. Enjoy it (despite the aching muscles!). I am blessed to have a lot of mom support in the form of good friends a wonderful MOPS group and a great women's Bible study group. I could still use a personal mom trainer but God sure has given me a lot of resources already! I am so thankful for my husband who is more supportive and proactive than I EVER imagined even though all three of the children are mine through a prior marriage. Additionally it encourages and strengthens me to hear the aged wise godly elders of our church pour out so tenderly the cry to God for each of us parents and for our children. It is so beautiful to hear such gracious prayers on our behalf. Not only is God on our side but also men and women whom we can turn to for trusted advice. And you. Karen! Thank you for pouring out your heart and your time to other moms. God bless you and continue to use you for the edification you offer. Oh a personal trainer.. man I need that and more. What a blessing. Today was like pushing a rock up a hill and you bet it would have been really nice to have someone there telling me how to make it easier.. where to place my feet for leverage and how to use my weight to move that rock. or maybe better yet helped me sledge hammer that rock into more manageable pieces. I forgot to stop and ask for help today. You have reminded me that it was there and I failed to ask ugh. Well I can try again tomorrow minus the rock and the hillThanks Karen! Hi Karen. I think I met a couple of your trainers in Ann Arbor. I train at FT there and a couple of Saturdays back they were observing. I wonder if the guy in the office was your husband. If you're feeling those sore muscles all day I think they may have learned a lot from my trainer. I love training there. I hope your location is successful even if you are in Spartan country. Cara I hope your husband's business does well! And that's great you're getting to workout with a trainer! We don't have MOPS at our church but the women's ministry started a group of SAHMs that meet once a month with speakers play dates etc. They even have childcare. It's been great!

"Personal Trainers in Fitness and Nutrition" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 01:46:50

I've go to the conclusion that I need to contract a personal trainer if I ever want to stick to working out for more than a week. I need this trainer for two reasons:mainly accountablity and back up of all i want to bring home the bacon out the most efficient way as to not waste any time/effort. Any suggestions for finding a good trainer? Also. I'm thinking I would need them at least once every other week. What do you evaluate? Hi R,Since you're serious about it definitely get a trainer that certified (either NCSA/AFPA/ACSM) at a minimum. That way you experience that you're dealing with someone that's put effort into their profession and isn't just Billy-Bob off the street. Where are you located? Do you have access to a variety of gyms? Many good gyms enumerate their staff on their website or on-site. Their profiles indicate their specialties (i e charge loss sport-specific training nutrition etc) along with experience and work history. Lastly once you undergo someone narrowed down continue to the gym and scope out the trainer during a session with another client. Afterwards talk to their clientel to get their impressions and feedback. If the conversation goes well and they do not mind sharing ask them about their results. I used to be a trainer at Northwest Athletic Club in the midwest and finding a good trainer can be difficult but it also makes a world of difference. Lastly once you have someone narrowed down continue to the gym and scope out the trainer during a session with another client. Afterwards talk to their clientel to get their impressions and feedback. If the conversation goes well and they do not object sharing ask them about their results. some trainers ordain accept you to book one-offs while some will demand a minimum of x number of sessions so book the minimum if that's the casewhat you likely only need a trainer for is to get an evaluation design a routine and perhaps meal plan based on your goals which is based on your body type and perhaps give you initial encouragementonce you have that you can pretty come up learn the be on your own from reading basic men's fitness mags getting tips from other gym rats and/or booking future sessions from a trainer - there is a tonne of stuff on-line as welli don't evaluate the average intelligent guy needs a trainer 24/7 for all his workouts Wow great membership rate! For a good trainer. $60 / hr is typical. Similar to what the others are suggesting. I would sign up for an evaluation first. Afterwards if things click bring home the bacon with the trainer to hit the major go across groups. Also see what they recommend for cardio work based upon on your goals. You should be good to go on your own afterwards. If accountability is what you're aiming for you could set up a 1:1 with your trainer at certain benchmarks i e. 2 weeks. 1 month. 3 months. 6 months after your initial sessions. I've found my own personal accountability is possible through an online trainer program. The one I'm currently using is available on the Men's Health website (can't post links yet sorry). They allow a good be of customization based upon your goals and also furnish a wide variety of weight-lifting activities. The animated instructions illustrate solid technique. Their forums are also very active with personal trainers responding to your questions. Stay away from a trainer that likes to put people on machines or Buso balls for the majority of the work out. I'm a part measure trainer and full measure firefighter. Body weight free weights and cable systems excercises will give you the best workouts. The only reason personal trainers put their clients on Buso balls is that they can seem creative. Its called circus training and the personal trainers that desire to put their clients on machines are just too damn lazy to show exceed excercises. I can't help with the trainer move. but two things that have helped me with the motivation aspect:1) having a workout partner with similar goals2) gutting it out for 3 weeks that seems desire the magical line if you can press it out for 3 weeks (going 3-5 times a week). It'll get to the point where it'll feel strange if you don't go to the gym. sight to Reader: The men's skin care and grooming advice on this web place or in correspondence with customers is intended to ameliorate and entertain. "Very Unique Turbulence Training Success Story" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 20:05:03

At 19 years I was told that I had to suffer weight because the create up of fat around my heart could lead to a heart attack so reluctantly I began this 6 meals a day and exercising at home because I did not want to go to a gym. By the time I was 22 years old I was down to 150 lbs but somewhat flabby so I went to a gym got expensive trainer that told me I would have to have surgury to remove the flab which did not help to alter feel any better. Then another trainer showed me how to lift weights which helped me to use weightlifting to get rid of the flab and get lean which did happen but it got to a point where I would hit a wall (so to speak) and the workouts would no longer work for me. Then I got into an accident lifting weights which left me with an atrophy on the left side of my body (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) which meant the doctors would have to remove the top rib on my left align which up until quite recently has caused me a great deal of pain especially on rainy days. has changed all of that for me. In the last 3 1/2 to 4 weeks my be has change state much stronger as well as leaner with muscle.... It's funny some of the trainers at my gym watch me work out and often ask where do I get my workouts from.... I never tell. The pain that I once experienced on my left side is not pretty much gone and my abs are incredible. All I can say is THANK YOU.... THANK YOU... THANK YOU. Hi Craig. Just wanted to let you experience that your short bursts of training is doing the trick for me. I dislike the treadmill even though I did it. I have an ab roller and have been doing that since I discovered your training strategies. Have dropped aprox 3 lbs in like two weeks and that was not doing it seriously.... Can't wait to get serious now.... Thank you. I can finally shake those baby belly pounds!!!! Sadly my trainer and good friend moved out of town and although I'm already in good shape and have nutritious eating habits. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to act it up. That's when I discovered Craig's TT workouts. Not only do I now save money on costly training sessions. I have challenging workouts that act me interested and get the job done quickly. In fact. I often have trainers come up to me in the gym and admire the exercises I'm doing or ask me if I'M a personal trainer. Especially because I'm a woman they're surprised that I'm lean and in such good shape without a personal trainer by my align. Thanks Craig and keep the great workouts coming! I am a personal trainer.

Maybe I should just go get certified to be one can't be anymore expensive just more measure consuming. Of course I comfort want to be a paralegal--maybe? (I be your enter on that Jess about the job and the program) If only I could evaluate out what I am supposed to be when I grow up.... Junior went to his first three hours at hourly daycare today and had a ball. He loved every minute of it scarfed down his food and was create from raw material to take a nap when we showed up. I brought him domiciliate and he napped for two hours. Tomorrow he is going for a longer period of time since I have to bring home the bacon but I am sure he will be fine. He's a great little guy just work work busy. The local theatre is putting on The Full Monty next week and they are offering tickets one night to military families. I got two thinking that DH and I could go but our moms are both out of town so there goes our evening babysitters. My friend that I would act just had a baby so I anticipate I will go alone. How sad is that! I'll be the person in the back of the theatre trying not to be like the loser lol. I had a few sessions with a personal trainer at the gym years and years ago. It was nice while I did it. But I wasn't committed so the prove if any were wasted. And now I am just starting private Pilates lessons which should be somewhat similar to personal training. We'll just have to wait and see. Good luck. And I still haven't figured out what I be to be when I change up well besides happy. :D
