I was a kid in the early 90's so I probably wasn't buying any 45's and the Napster phenomenon didn't start until I was at least 15 so I downloading anything either. I used to check MTV with my dad on Saturday mornings and always had young babysitters so I was exposed to some weird shit at a young age. He used to buy me cassettes when we'd go shopping and I think the first was
from the book Young Cannibals. I was 6 years old and totally nuts for 'She Drives Me Crazy.' By the time I was 9 years old I had moved onto the cassette single of Weezer's 'Undone. The Sweater Song,' and S. W. V.'s
album. In fact. I think I got them both on the same day.
To my credit: within less than a year I had moved on to Nirvana. Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day; by the measure I was 12 my favorites were The Sex Pistols. The Buzzcocks. Jilted John (whom you've never heard of) and Tool.
