the first single

I was a kid in the early 90's so I probably wasn't buying any 45's and the Napster phenomenon didn't start until I was at least 15 so I downloading anything either. I used to check MTV with my dad on Saturday mornings and always had young babysitters so I was exposed to some weird shit at a young age. He used to buy me cassettes when we'd go shopping and I think the first was from the book Young Cannibals. I was 6 years old and totally nuts for  'She Drives Me Crazy.' By the time I was 9 years old I had moved onto the cassette single of Weezer's 'Undone. The Sweater Song,' and S. W. V.'s album. In fact. I think I got them both on the same day.  To my credit: within less than a year I had moved on to Nirvana. Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day; by the measure I was 12 my favorites were The Sex Pistols. Hmmmm what a wierd question i feel like it's a 3 parter too.. so here we go:  1) i still don't own a 45 despite my obsession with music i find that if i buy a record i will want more and i do not undergo the money for such an obsession at the moment... 2) i believe the first single (cd form) i ever bought may have been. oh god i can't think of the name of them suffice to say that it was a hiphop male duo of poppy goodness probably occuring around 1993? if you know of whom i speak you get a cookie. 3) i also can't think of the first download i purchased it would be 2 years ago after i got my ipod nano and it was a song that i liked but i didn't care for the cd. I actually never owned any singles (not sure why...) but the first vinyl album I owned was Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly". It was a cool album with a gate-fold cut-out cover shaped like piano. I played it over & over especially the tracks "Suzanne" and "When You grimace." I think I was in 7th grade so that would have been around 1973. Yikes! I was crazy about them when I was around 5. I also had an album by them as well. I also had the Beatles of course. I also bequeath having a Chipmunk album with Take Me Out to the Ballgame where Alvin breaks a window with a ball. I used to listen to that song over and over.
